NAPERVILLE
Two people were caught smoking a bong on Oct. 14 after speeding up and down the street in the 1300 block of Ada Lane, police said.
Someone was found interchanging tags on wrenches and removing screws from boxes and placing the wrenches and screws in their pocket in the 700 block of Fort Hill, police said. On Oct. 14 the person passed by the register without paying for the?wrench. But when the person approached the entrance and saw security approaching, he or she immediately went back in to the?store. The person wandered aimlessly for a considerable period before being stopped by security and finally left the store.
Someone walked out of a business on Oct. 14 without paying for a food bill along with taking the food in the 1800 block of South Washington Street, police said.
NORTH AURORA
A little proximity to the local police station goes a long way towards capturing some suspects.
Two 14-year-old Joliet boys were charged in connection to a Wednesday morning car burglary. The incident occurred shortly before 9:18 a.m. in the 100 block of Overland Drive, according to a news release.
Police said the teens took a cell phone, keys and loose change from a man's car. The man chased the teens about a half-mile east to the area of Rt. 31 and Airport Road but lost them. He went to the nearby police station, reported the incident and both suspects were caught by police near the station about 15 minutes after the burglary occurred.
GENEVA
Robert Wilson, 53, apparently really wanted some size 13 wrestling shoes?because he ended up paying a pretty high price after he was caught by Geneva police.
Police arrested Wilson of Aurora on charges of retail theft and unlawful possession of a theft-detection device at 2:01 p.m. following a theft from the Sports Authority, 1777 S. Randall Road, reports said.
Geneva police responded to a report from Tri-Com dispatch that a witness was following a male offender leaving the scene in a maroon Chevrolet Caprice. TriCom advised that the subject, later identified as Wilson, had taken a pair of Nike gym shoes, concealed them under his leather jacket and exited the store without paying.
GLEN ELLYN
- A purse containing an undisclosed amount of cash and credit cards was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway, police said. The theft took place between 1 and 6 p.m. Oct. 9 in the 100 block of Milton Avenue.
- A resident in the 400 block of Raintree Court reported an unlocked vehicle was burglarized between 6 p.m. Oct. 8 and 10:15 a.m. Oct. 9, police said. The resident reported a GPS and a backpack containing an iPad were stolen.
BATAVIA
A man told an officer he had gotten into an argument with his wife at their east-side home. The parties said at 5:26 p.m. Oct. 1 they would separate for the evening, but it didn't last long. The officer was called back 30 minutes later, with the man claiming his wife hid his passport.
A woman has found golf balls on her west-side property for the past several months. She told police at 5:36 p.m. Oct. 1 that she saw a neighbor hitting golf balls and found several balls blocking her gutter.
